2019 High School Seniors

I just want to talk to my high school kids right now.

I know some kids don't like having their picture taken, which is understandable. There are some kids who love being in front of a camera. Whichever category you fall in, you know at some point during your senior year that a senior photo session has to happen. Aside from being in front of the camera, you have to consider cost. When I was a high school senior, I remember lots of senior activities that required dollars. I was one of those kids who didn't have everything handed to me. I worked my butt off to pay for any senior costs that came about. I remember paying for my senior pictures out of my own pocket. Back in my day, that senior portfolio book was the thing to have. I needed it so my grandmother would have something to proudly display. When the day came, I proudly rocked my photo session....I even included my best friend at the time in some of the shots. BUT when I saw that pricing, I cried. I literally cried. I knew I couldn't afford it. But after I dried my tears, I buckled down and told myself I would work and save until I could pay for that exact photo package I wanted. And you know what? I did just that.

So with that being said, I know pictures can seem pricey. I want to help you. For starters, if you look at my pricing, you will notice that the deposit for senior sessions is only $50, not the normal 50% that I require for other sessions. I want to let you know that I am able to compromise with you. If you tell me what exactly you want and need, I can work with you on pricing and payment. This is a special time in your life and you NEED those memories captured. Please be open with me and I will do my best to get you what you need. Let's get together and make this a stress-free event. Besides, you have prom and possibly a senior trip to worry about....not to mention college applications and tests. Standing in front of someone saying "cheese" should not be one of your worries. (Just kidding, I will not make you say "cheese" LOL oooor will I (jk!))

Try not to wait until the last minute. Your holiday break is perfect timing since most of you will have lots of free time on your hands. To help a little bit in advance, I'm posting a limited time high school senior special under the SPECIALS page on my site. Check back in a few days to see what special I came up with.

Why are professional photographers expensive?

I really like this blog post by another well respected photographer. I figured I'd share it on my own blog. So here ya go...
*sidenote: Walmart and Target have closed their studios. So there ya go.

Why are Professional Photographers so expensive? (This article has been very well received by the photography community, and is now referred to by countless Photography websites, blogs and forums (such as LDPT, ILP and DWF)around the world).
In this digital age where everyone has digital cameras, scanners and home "photo printers", when people upload their photos to a local drug store website and pick them up a few hours later, we hear this all the time - How in the world do Professional Photographers charge $55 for an 8x10 when they cost just $1.50 at the drug store?

December Photos

I will not be doing holiday sessions in the month of December. November 30th will be the last day for sessions that are wanting prints for the holidays. My schedule will be limited in December for regular sessions. I will resume a full schedule of regular sessions and mini sessions beginning in January. Please grab your holiday spots asap.

What are the benefits of having a personal photographer?

- Your session and portraits are customized to your personal taste

- Your session will not be boring, stuffy, uptight, or pretentious

- You schedule your sessions at your own convenience

- Receive more bang for your buck

Holiday Aroma

Ever wish you could get that holiday smell in your home without sweating in front of a hot oven and just basically not put in the work?  Also, who wants to keep buying those expensive candles when all you want is to just fill your home with the smell of love and not fill your pockets with hate? That's a rhetorical question, of course. I have a quick homemade potpourri recipe for you.

 Simmering Potpourri
from the kitchen of Mauresa Perez

2 Tablespoons  ground cinnamon, or as desired
2 Tablespoons ground nutmeg, or as desired
2 orange peels, or as desired
3.5 cups water

1) Bring small pot of water to boil with cinnamon and nutmeg.  Mix thoroughly. Mix in orange peels.
2) Reduce pot to simmer on very low heat.  Add water as liquid gets low.

*Can also be warmed in oil warmer
